Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and which outside services are involved.

Effective date: November 1, 2026 · Last updated: November 2, 2026

This policy explains what information Payroll Simply Explained collects when you visit payrollsimplyexplained.com, how it is used, and which outside services are involved. We keep this site simple: there are no user accounts, no advertising networks, and our own pages do not set cookies.

Who we are

Payroll Simply Explained is an independent guide to Gusto payroll, operated by Gabriel Brooks, 17 W. Columbus Street, Pickerington, OH 43147. You can reach us at [email protected].

Information you choose to send us

Our "Request a tutorial" form asks for your name, your email address, the topic you need help with, and whether you signed up for Gusto through our link. When you press "Send request", your answers are sent securely to a small Cloudflare Worker (a script that runs on Cloudflare's network, which also hosts this site). It emails your request to our inbox through Cloudflare's email service and then shows you a confirmation page. The Worker does not store your request; Cloudflare may keep short-lived technical logs of the request for security and troubleshooting. The form also has a hidden field that helps block spam robots.

We receive your name, email address, topic, your answer to the Gusto question, and anything else you include. We use it to:

read and reply to your request;
decide which tutorials to make next, giving priority to people who say they signed up through our link;
email you when a video you asked for is ready.

We keep request emails for one year. We do not sell your information, and we do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to. Messages are stored in the email account that receives mail for [email protected].

Hosting and analytics (Cloudflare)

This site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information needed to deliver pages and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. Cloudflare also runs a small script that protects our email address from spam bots.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they view. Cloudflare describes this service as privacy-focused and states that it does not use cookies or track visitors across other websites. We see only aggregated statistics, not individual visitors. You can read more in Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Fonts, images and videos

Fonts. Our fonts are stored on this site, so loading them doesn't send your information to an outside font service.
Images. Some screenshots and images are served from a third-party content delivery network (Amazon CloudFront), which receives standard technical information such as your IP address when it delivers an image.
YouTube. Video preview images load from YouTube's servers (i.ytimg.com) when you open a video page. The video player itself loads only after you press play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once a video plays, or if you follow a link to our YouTube channels, YouTube and Google may collect information under Google's privacy policy.

Links to Gusto

Many links on this site are referral links to Gusto. A referral link tells Gusto that you came from us so that, under Gusto's current referral terms, you can receive a bonus and we may receive a reward. When you click one, you leave our site. What you share with Gusto, including anything you enter when signing up, is handled by Gusto under Gusto's own privacy policy, not this one. We do not receive your Gusto account or payroll information.

Children

This site is written for business owners and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your choices

If you have emailed us and want a copy of what we hold, want it corrected, or want it deleted, email [email protected] and we will respond. You can also block or clear cookies and scripts from Google, YouTube or Cloudflare in your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and the effective date above.
